Following lunch, inhale the fragrant aromas which fill the air, as a visit to a plantation and spice market awaits. DAY 9: THEKKADY TO ALLEPPEY B/L/D A highlight of Thekkady is the Periyar National Park, India’s largest wildlife sanctuary. Take to the water and board a boat upon Periyar Lake, where you will have the chance to spot some elephants, or one of the park’s 25 Bengal tigers, amongst other birds, reptiles and mammals. Later today, journey to Alleppey, the majestic home of a stunning network of waterways, and board a traditional houseboat which will be your transport and overnight accommodation. This leisurely cruise leads through the tranquil winding backwaters of Kerala as you delight in local cuisine and stunning rural scenery of the surrounding Kerala villages and rippling waters. Meander through Alleppey’s beautiful lagoons, rivers and canals. DAY 10: ALLEPPEY TO TRIVANDRUM B/L/D Following breakfast travel to Trivandrum and stop at the Jatayupara Earth Centre, a rock inspired theme park. Visible from afar, marvel at the world’s largest bird sculpture which pays tribute to the mythical bird from Hindu epic, Ramayana, before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant. Later this afternoon, continue to Trivandrum and enjoy an evening at leisure. DAY 11: TRIVANDRUM B/L/D This morning, enjoy a city tour of Kerala’s bustling capital. Witness one of the last architectural relics of the colonial era with a visit to the magnificent Kanakakunnu Palace, whose striking red façade exemplifies traditional Kerala architecture. Next, marvel at the Sri Padmanabha Swami Temple, before returning to your hotel to unwind with another Ayurvedic massage later today. Re-join your group this evening for your farewell dinner. DAY 12: TRIVANDRUM TO UK B Transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK, via Dubai, or continue on to your chosen extension.
