DAY 2: SANTIAGO On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. DAY 3: SANTIAGO B A half-day city tour begins at the Government Palace, then continue to the main square ‘Plaza de Armas’. Next stroll around Santa Lucia Hill, and finish your tour with visits to the exclusive residential neighbourhoods of Vitacura and Las Condes. DAY 4: SANTIAGO TO SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA B This morning, fly to Calama, a city in northern Chile’s Atacama Desert, and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, with the rest of the day at leisure. DAY 5: SAN PEDRO DE ATACAMA B An early start takes you to the Tatio Geysers on the highest geothermal field in the Andean mountain range. In the late afternoon, travel to Valle de la Luna to watch the sun set from this exquisite viewing point. DAY 6: SAN PEDRO TO OJO DE PERDIZ B/L/D After breakfast, journey to the Bolivian Salt Flats in a 4x4 Jeep. A full-day tour of these incredible landscapes includes coloured lagoons, the hot springs of Polques and the geysers of Sol de Mañana. DAY 7: OJO DE PERDIZ TO UYUNI SALT FLATS B/L/D Continue to a chain of beautiful lagoons, home to three different kinds of flamingo. After lunch, journey across the salt flats to your unique accommodation for the night — a hotel built entirely of salt! DAY 8: UYUNI SALT FLATS B/L/D This morning, climb to the top of prehistoric Isla Incahuasi for views of the spectacular salt flats. DAY 9: UYUNI SALT FLATS TO LA PAZ B Fly to La Paz where, on arrival, you will enjoy a half-day tour, which includes the 16th century San Francisco church and the charming colonial street of Calle Jaén. Finish at Valle de la Luna, where erosion has produced stony forms resembling the moon. DAY 10: LA PAZ TO PUNO B Cross the border into Peru and arrive at Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Here, travel by motorboat to visit the floating Uros islands, constructed entirely of reeds. DAY 11: PUNO TO CUSCO B/L Board your coach in Puno and travel through rolling plains and mountainous highlands en route to Cusco. The journey includes stops at La Raya pass, the Raqchi ruins and Andahuaylillas village where there is a beautiful church from the 17th century. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before arriving in Cusco and transferring to your hotel. DAY 12: CUSCO B This morning, visit the Temple of the Sun, Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral before driving to the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman just outside the city. DAY 13: CUSCO B Rise early and journey to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World — the awe-inspiring ruins of Machu Picchu. You will have a guided tour around the site and some free time to explore at your own pace. DAY 14: CUSCO TO LIMA B Fly to Lima where you will visit the main square and drive through Miraflores, a bustling shopping area with fantastic views of the Pacific Ocean. DAY 15/16: LIMA TO THE UK B Transfer to Lima airport for your overnight flight back to the UK via São Paulo, or continue on to your chosen extension.
