Day 2: Santiago D On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure. Day 3: Santiago B This morning the tour takes you through historic Plaza de Armas, home to the 18th century government palace and baroque cathedral. Later, visit provincial Santa Lucia Hill. Day 4: Santiago and Colchagua Valley B/L Today, journey south along the Panamerican Highway to Colchagua. Take in the majestic vistas and idyllic vineyards, as you travel to Santa Cruz. Continue, to a local vineyard and taste the award- winning cabernet sauvignons and merlots. Day 5: Santiago to San Pedro de Atacama B A morning flight takes you to Calama in the Atacama Desert. Occupying a 1000 kilometre strip of land west of the Andes, Atacama Desert is the driest place on earth. On arrival, transfer to San Pedro and late afternoon climb the sand dunes of the Moon Valley to watch the sunset. Day 6: San Pedro de Atacama B/L/D Today, travel to Salar de Atacama, Chile’s largest salt flat. Cross the crystalline edge of this barren salt basin to the flamingo filled Chaxa Lagoon, before the Miscanti and Meñique Lagoons. After lunch, the rest of the day is at leisure in San Pedro. Day 7: San Pedro de Atacama B/L Situated some 4,300 metres above sea level, the dramatic craters of Tatio Geysers are one of the regions true marvels. As the sun warms the earth, take a bath in the hot thermal pools or spend more time exploring. Arriving back in San Pedro, the rest of the afternoon will be at leisure. Day 8: San Pedro de Atacama to Santiago B This morning, fly to Santiago for your overnight stay. Day 9: Santiago to Easter Island B After breakfast, depart on your flight to Easter Island. This tiny island, formed from volcanic rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is the most remote inhabited island in the world. Day 10: Easter Island B/L/D Today, visit Ahu Tongariki, the island’s largest Ahu (shrine) with 15 imposing Moai statues that have become synonymous with Easter Island itself. Finish today’s tour at the beautiful Anakena beach. Day 11: Easter Island B/L This morning, drive up the extinct Rano Kau volcano to the ceremonial village of Orongo. This afternoon, venture out to explore the quarry of Puna Pau and the uniquely located Ahu Akivi. Day 12: Easter Island B Today, enjoy a day of leisure to relax or explore. Day 13: Easter Island to Santiago B Transfer for your flight to Santiago where, on arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. Day 14: Santiago to the UK B Transfer for your overnight return flight via São Paulo, or continue on to your chosen extension.
