Lake Titicaca Day 1: UK to Lima Depart the UK on your flight, via Paris. On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. Day 2: Lima B/D This morning, enjoy a tour of Lima and visit San Francisco Monastery. Wander through picturesque San Isidro and Miraflores, before an afternoon at leisure and a welcome dinner this evening. Day 3: Lima to Puerto Maldonado B/L/D This morning, fly to Puerto Maldonado. Travel by boat to your lodge for lunch, then follow a trail to the Caiman Cocha and witness your first spectacular sunset in the Amazon. Day 4: Puerto Maldonado B/L/D After an early breakfast, board a riverboat to a tropical forest and hike to Sandoval Lake, where you’ll enjoy a boat ride. Following lunch, visit Monkey Island. Day 5: Puerto Maldonado B/L/D Today, embark on a hike to Lost Cocha and climb to the top of an observation platform to see the area this swamp covers. After lunch at the lodge, visit a local family and learning about their plantation. Day 6: Puerto Maldonado to Cusco B This morning, travel back to the city centre before flying to Cusco. On arrival, uncover the remnants of the city’s Incan and colonial past on a city tour. Explore the Incan rock fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the underground cave and temple of Kenko, then take in the views over the rocky ruins of Puca Pucara. Day 7: Cusco B/L Journey by train to Machu Picchu and explore the tombs, temples and palaces of this ancient city. Have lunch in the nearby town of Aguas Calientes and later journey home by train. Day 8: Cusco to Puno B/L Travel to Puno, stopping at Andahuayillas. Continue to Raqchi, an Inca archaeological park. Explore the towering Temple of Wiracocha before visiting The Raya. Arrive early evening for an evening of leisure. Day 9: Puno B/L Today’s highlight is a trip to Lake Titicaca, the highest and largest navigable lake on earth. After lunch, follow 535 stone steps to a fantastic observation point. Later, walk back down to the port and board a boat to the floating island of Uros. Day 10: Puno to Arequipa B/L/D Depart for Arequipa, stopping at the Lagunillas Lagoon. En route, stop for refreshments before visiting the plains of Pampa Cañahuas. Day 11: Arequipa to Nazca B/L/D A scenic 12-14 hour drive along the coastline takes you past dazzling white beaches, coastal towns, and lofty mountain passes as you follow the great Pan-American Highway to the city of Nazca. Day 12: Nazca to Paracas B/L Get a bird’s eye view of the fascinating Nazca Lines on a 25-minute flight over the lines (subject to weather conditions). Back on land, travel to Paracas, stopping at a local winery and pottery studio. Day 13: Paracas B Enjoy a morning boat ride to the Ballestas Islands, with the chance to see sealife and the prehistoric Paracas Candelabra petroglyph etched into the waterside dunes. Later, enjoy an afternoon at leisure. Day 14: Paracas to Lima B/D Today, travel to Lima with a scenic drive along the Pacific Coastline, where you’ll enjoy a farewell dinner. Day 15: Lima to the UK B Transfer for your overnight return flight, via Paris, or continue on to your chosen extension.
