Day 8: Carara National Park to San Gerardo de Dota B/D Tucked into the mountains of the Rio Savegre Valley, you’ll find the quaint community of San Gerardo de Dota. There are nature trails here that run from Cerro de la Muerte and drop down 4,000ft, giving bird watchers the opportunity to experience many different habitats in just one day – from the paramo, to high elevation oak forests, to cloud forests. Day 9: San Gerardo de Dota B/D With another days’ exploration of the vast San Gerardo de Dota region, you’ll have the chance to spot the magical quetzal – regarded as a holy bird by the Maya in Mexico, and is the national symbol of Guatemala. Day 10: San Gerardo de Dota to UK B After an early breakfast, you’ll continue your exploration of the misty cloud forest, maybe even discovering more spectacular bird species on your final expedition. Afterwards you’ll return to San Jose airport for your overnight flight back to the UK giving you a chance to sort through all the amazing photos you’ve taken on this spectacular bird-watching tour!
