Day 2: Rio de Janeiro On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Day 3: Rio de Janeiro B Embark on a captivating half day tour commencing at one of Rio’s most famous icons; take a ride in a cable car to the 394m summit of Sugarloaf Mountain and gaze in awe at the captivating vistas. Spend the rest of the day at leisure as you further explore this vibrant city, and perhaps stop to try some ‘acai’, a local delicious fruit. Day 4: Rio de Janeiro B This morning’s city tour follows a scenic route leading towards the imposing Corcovado Mountain in Tijuca Forest, the site of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. Considered to be the largest art deco statue in the world, the impressive figure stands 30 metres tall and arms stretching 28 metres wide. With an afternoon at leisure, why not unwind on the pristine golden sand of Ipanema beach, or discover the Botanical Gardens. Day 5: Rio de Janeiro to Iguaçu B The morning is free before you take your flight to the Brazilian side of the Iguaçu Falls. On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. Day 6: Iguaçu, Argentinian Side B Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, Iguaçu National Park is home to incredible waterfalls. Explore the Upper Circuit which offers extraordinary views from the summit of these majestic falls, before experiencing a thrilling closer encounter as you traverse the Lower Circuit. Next, feel the intensity and almighty thunder of the infamous Devil’s Throat, a U-shaped section where the largest volume of the falls descends, producing enormous plumes of mist. Day 7: Iguaçu to Buenos Aires B This morning, cross back into Brazil and explore this side of Iguaçu National Park. Take in mesmerising views of the grandiose rugged islet of San Martin, and admire three of the most impressive jumps of the falls, before the up-close views of the Devil’s Throat. Later this afternoon, transfer to the airport to catch your flight to Buenos Aires. Day 8: Buenos Aires B Today’s morning tour of the city starts in the historic Plaza de Mayo, the site of the 1810 revolution and now a hub of political life. From here, you will see the Casa Rosada government palace and its famous balcony. Later experience the colourful neighbourhood of La Boca then head to the modern Palermo neighbourhood, a hugely popular destination before reaching the district of Recoleta, the most sophisticated neighbourhood in Buenos Aires. Spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure. Day 9: Buenos Aires B Enjoy this day at leisure to take in the city at your own pace. Maybe enjoy a drink at one of the vibrant bars in Plaza Serrano – ask for an ‘alfajores,’ a soft delicate cookie filled with dulce de leche. Day 10: Buenos Aires to the UK B Transfer for your overnight return flight, or continue on to your chosen extension.
