Day 2: Bangkok D On arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, with the day at leisure. This evening, enjoy a dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River. Day 3: Bangkok B/L Today’s full day city tour takes you through Chinatown to the city’s colourful flower market. Visit Wat Pho, home to one of the country’s longest reclining Buddha images, before visiting the Grand Palace. In the afternoon, board a traditional long-tail boat to navigate Bangkok’s khlongs. Pass the Wat Arun temple, before returning to your hotel. Day 4: Bangkok to Ayutthaya B/L/D This morning, visit the famous floating market of Damnoen Saduak and observe local traders paddling their fragile boats whilst preparing fragrant dishes within teetering woks. Continue west to Kanchanaburi to visit the war cemetery and nearby Thailand-Burma railway museum. Enjoy lunch at a floating restaurant near the infamous railway bridge. Later, transfer to Ayutthaya for dinner. Day 5: Ayutthaya to Sukhothai B/L/D Start the day at Ayutthaya’s UNESCO historical park. Wander the Summer Palace, then visit the ancient royal monastery of Wat Yai Chaimongkhol. Departing Ayutthaya, journey through rural Thailand and your day in Sukhothai. Day 6: Sukhothai to Chiang Mai B/L/D Today, visit the impressive UNESCO World Heritage site of Sukhothai Historical Park. Continue to Si Satchanalai and cross the river to a local fishing village. Following lunch, journey into the jungle area, stopping at a local hill tribe to learn how native plants are used in traditional cooking. Arrive into Chiang Mai late this afternoon. Day 7: Chiang Mai B Take the morning to relax before travelling north of Chiang Mai to visit Kanta Elephant Sanctuary to observe these majestic creatures. Later today, enjoy an evening at leisure. Day 8: Chiang Mai B/L/D This morning, visit a local market before rolling up your sleeves and trying your hand at Thai cooking at The Best Cooking School. Late this afternoon, your guide will take you to Doi Suthep, a nearby mountain, for panoramic views at sunset. Near the summit discover Wat Phra That, Northern Thailand’s holiest shrine. As night falls, return to the city to sample a traditional Khantoke dinner and show. Day 9: Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai B/L/D Today, begin your assent of northern Thailand’s mountainous regions to Thaton. After lunch, board a traditional long-tail boat for a tranquil cruise along the Kok River. Disembark and drive to the infamous Golden Triangle, a mountainous range where Thailand, Laos and Burma converge. Continue to your hotel in Chiang Rai. Day 10: Chiang Rai to Bangkok B/L/D This morning visit the stunning Wat Rongkhun, an art instillation in the form of a temple. After lunch, fly to Bangkok, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a farewell dinner. Day 11: Bangkok to the UK B After breakfast, you’ll be transferred for your return flight, or continue on to your chosen extension.
