Continue to Si Satchanalai and cross the river to a local fishing village to soak up the rural culture. Following lunch, journey into the jungle, stopping at a local hill tribe to learn how native plants are used in traditional cooking. Arrive at Chiang Mai late this afternoon. Day 7: Chiang Mai B Take the morning to relax before travelling north of Chiang Mai to visit Kanta Elephant Sanctuary in the afternoon. Change into traditional clothing and prepare fruits for the animals before feeding them and watching them in the water. This evening you can enjoy some free time to relax or experience a local tuk tuk ride to the nearby famous night market - head out after 7pm to explore the many stalls, restaurants and bars with live music and delicious street food. Day 8: Chiang Mai B/L/D This morning, visit a local market to delight in the taste of Thailand before rolling up your sleeves and trying your hand at Thai cooking at The Best Cooking School. Late this afternoon, your guide will take you through evergreen forests to Doi Suthep, a nearby mountain, for panoramic views of the sunset. Near the summit discover Wat Phra That, Northern Thailand’s holiest shrine. As night falls, return to the city to sample a traditional Khantoke dinner and show. Day 9: Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai B/L/D Today, begin your assent of northern Thailand’s mountainous regions to Thaton. After lunch, board a traditional long-tail boat for a tranquil cruise along the Kok River, a tributary of the Mekong. Disembark and travel to the infamous Golden Triangle, a mountainous region where Thailand, Laos and Burma converge. Continue to your hotel in Chiang Rai to relax for the evening. Day 10: Chiang Rai to Bangkok B/L/D This morning visit the stunning Wat Rongkhun, the famous White Temple designed and rebuilt by a national artist as a centre of Buddhist learning and meditation. After lunch, fly to Bangkok, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a farewell dinner. Day 11: Bangkok to the UK B After breakfast, you’ll be transferred for your return flight, or continue on to your chosen extension.
