DAY 2 & 3 MANILA: Discover Manila’s history at the Walled City of Intramuros and Fort Santiago, reminders of Spain’s conquistadores. Travel to the country’s oldest stone church, San Agustin, and visit Casa Manila, an exquisite reproduction of a 19th- century house. Browse the Ayala Museum’s extensive collection of pre-colonial treasures. DAY 4 & 5 BANAUE: Drive through Luzon’s countryside, past rice fields, foraging herons, and water buffalo bathing in mud. Visit San Guillermo Church, half-buried in lava after Mount Pinatubo’s 1991 eruption, and Lagawe, home of the ‘People from the High Mountains’, known for their woodcarving. Board a Jeepney to admire the magnificent Banaue Rice Terraces, a UNESCO Heritage Area and civil engineering landmark. DAY 6 & 7 SAGADA & VIGAN: Visit the Bontoc Museum for an insight into the Igorots, the fiercest head-hunters of all native mountain tribes, Continue past Sagada’s famous hanging coffins and explore the Baroque Church of the Assumption, Vigan’s UNESCO-listed church. DAY 8 LAOAG: See the Saint William the Hermit Parish Church, declared a National Cultural Treasure in 2001. On arrival in Laoag learn about the province’s history and culture at the Museo Iloko. Visit the Sinking Bell Tower and St. William’s Cathedral. DAY 911 BOHOL: Meet the smallest primate in the world at the Philippine Tarsier Foundation. Pass by the man-made forest of Bilar en route to the Chocolate Hills, the country’s geological wonder, and take a cruise on the Loboc River, with lunch at a floating restaurant. Enjoy time at leisure. DAY 12 CEBU: Start at Fort San Pedro, the Philippines’ first and smallest military defence structure, then see Basilica Minore del Sto Nino, home of Magellan’s Cross, where Christianity was first planted in Cebu.
