In the evening enjoy a delicious Sichuan meal. DAY 4“6 “ LHASA: Explore the spectacular Potala Palace, one of the most famous landmarks in Tibet and winter residence of the Dalai Lama. Head to Jokhang Temple, one of the holiest temples in Tibetan Buddhism, and the lively Barkhor Bazaar. Visit Norbulingka, known as the Dalai Lama’s Summer Palace, and the 600-year-old Sera Monastery. DAY 7 ˜ SHIGATSE: A train ride past rural villages and mountain peaks brings you to Tibet’s second city, Shigatse. Explore Tashilhunpo Monastery, home to Tibet’s largest number of monks, and the temple of Jampa, housing the world’s largest gilded statue. DAY 8 “ GYANTSE: Visit a traditional family home for an insight into Tibetan culture and the influence of religion on daily life. See Pelkor Chode Monastery, a popular pilgrimage site founded in 1418, and the monumental Gyantse Kumbum, a chorten 35 metres high and filled with thousands of exquisite paintings. DAY 9 ˜ LHASA: Journey through some of the world’s most stunning scenery, including the sacred Yamdrok Lake, filled with vibrant turquoise waters and surrounded by snow- capped mountains. Admire the untamed beauty of the Karo La Glacier, over 700 years old and sitting at an altitude of over 5000 metres. DAY 10 “ CHENGDU: Return to Chengdu for a tour including People’s Park and the historic Wide and Narrow Alleys, consisting of a series of traditional Sichuan-style courtyards and alleys.
