Day 1: UK to Lima Depart the UK on your flight to Lima, via Bogotá. Day 2: Lima On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Day 3: Lima to Arequipa B Today, start in historic downtown Lima at the main square to see the Cathedral, Government Palace and City Hall. Next, see one of the best- preserved monasteries and then on to modern Miraflores, before your flight to Arequipa. Day 4: Arequipa B Set against the backdrop of a misty volcano, Arequipa, known as the ‘Cuidad Blanca’ (White City), offers some truly wonderful sites, including the frescoes of America’s Sistine Chapel and the Santa Catalina Convent. End your tour with a relaxed walk around Cayma and Yanahuara. Day 5: Arequipa to Colca Canyon B/L/D Today, the tour moves on to the open plains of the Pampa Cañaguas and Salinas where you will see roaming llamas, alpacas, and guanacos. Later, arrive at Chivay, your base for the night. Day 6: Colca Canyon to Puno B/L/D An early start from Chivay sets you up for a scenic tour of the Colca Canyon. After lunch, travel to Puno, arriving in time for dinner. Day 7: Puno B/L Today’s highlight is a trip to Lake Titicaca. The views from Taquile Island are stunning and well worth the walk. Have a ‘coca tea’ break halfway up before lunch overlooking the lake. Later, board a boat for a brief visit to one of the floating reed islands to visit a local family home. Day 8: Puno to Cusco B/L Journey to Cusco, stopping en route at La Raya pass, the Raqchi ruins and Andahuaylillas village. Enjoy lunch before arriving in Cusco. Day 9: Cusco to Sacred Valley B/L Travel to Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with a visit to the imposing Inca fortress at Ollantaytambo. En route, you will visit a camelid compound then the colourful Pisac market. Day 10: Sacred Valley to Cusco B/L This morning start your adventure to the incredible site of Machu Picchu. After a guided tour, explore at your own pace and absorb the awe-inspiring atmosphere. Descend to Aguas Calientes for lunch, before returning to Cusco. Day 11: Cusco to Lima B This morning tour Cusco, visiting the ‘Temple of the Sun’, the masonry of the Incas and the Plaza de Armas. Later, drive to the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, then the underground cave and temple of Kenko. Experience a panoramic view of Puca Pucara and the living art workshop, before your flight to Lima. Day 12: Lima to the UK B Transfer for your overnight return flight, via Bogotá, or continue on to your chosen extension.
