The port area is dominated by a medieval fort and nearby are the remains of Roman villas and the ‘tomb of the kings’. Charming pavement cafés, restaurants and bars line the attractive harbour. Limassol Limassol is the island’s up and coming area, famed for its wine production. Hotels, restaurants and nightspots abound along the beach area to the east of the port. Coral Bay This popular resort located north of Paphos has, over recent years, become one of the leading resorts in Cyprus. It is well situated between vineyards to the north and banana plantations in nearby Peyia, but it’s the beach and coastline that brings the people to Coral Bay. Ayia Napa This former sleepy fishing village has some of the best beaches in Cyprus. It has become a magnet for tourists and is popular for scuba diving and snorkelling, as well as its array of bars and restaurants. Larnaca With its palm-lined promenade, Larnaca has a cosmopolitan feel to it. Home to the island’s main airport, it offers many visitors their first sight of Cyprus. A bustling town with good shopping and places to eat on its impressive seafront. Protaras Protaras has recently grown into a small resort which has become increasingly popular with visitors due to its crystal clear waters.
