There are 50 islands in the North Malé Atoll, many of which are uninhabited. South Ari Atoll Located to the west of Malé, South Ari Atoll is one of the best places in the Maldives for underwater sports – the diving here is renowned. You can also learn about the Maldivian way of life at the cultural centre. Kaafu Atoll Located above the North Malé Atoll offering visitors stunning white sands and crystal clear waters. Must see highlights Whale Sharks The world’s largest fish is a year- round resident. South Ari Atoll is a Marine Protected Area and the best place to spot these gentle giants. Meemu Atoll Meemu Atoll is often referred to as the Maldives’ best-kept secret. It is made up of 33 islands just 9 of which are inhabited. Snorkeling and Diving The reefs of the Maldives are famous for reef sharks, sea turtles, eagle rays, sting rays and more.
