Inside, kaleidoscopic frescoes depicting the life of the saint cover the arched ceilings whilst inlaid tombstones and colourful commemorative marble slabs adorn the floor. 4 Discover the Ġgantija Temples Gozo Dating from 3600-3200 BC, the megalithic Ġgantija Temples command soaring views over the Southern parts of Gozo and are recognised as the world’s oldest free-standing structures. According to Gozitan legend, the awe-inspiring limestone monoliths that form the temple walls were put there by giants, in Maltese ‘ġganti’, and so the name. 5 Marfa Ridge country walk North-west Coast, Malta Starting at Mellieha bay, Marfa Ridge Hike takes you along farmlands, secluded coves, sandy beaches, and cliffs. You’ll pass the iconic turrets of the Red Tower and can also visit the solitary Immaculate Conception chapel perched upon the cliffs overlooking the sea. The walk is 11km long and should take around 4.5 hours. 6 Popeye Village, Anchor Bay North-west Coast, Malta The village was originally built as the film set for Disney’s 1980 musical feature film Popeye, starring Robin Williams.
