The traditional village of Pegeia is close by, packed with funky little shops, roadside stalls and tavernas serving up locally-caught fish mezze. 4 Marvel at Lemesos Castle Limassol This medieval castle, built over the remnants of earlier Byzantine and Earl Christian edifices, sits in the heart of Limassol’s picturesque old town. Richard the Lionheart and Berengaria of Navarre are said to have married in the chapel of the original castle in 1191. 5 Discover the House of Dionysos Paphos Dating from the second century AD, the mosaic floor tiles of this Roman villa have been preserved in pristine condition and depict hunting scenes and stories from Greek Mythology. At the entrance spot the pebble mosaic of the mythical sea-monster Scylla from an even earlier villa dating back to the third century BC. 6 Explore Larnaca Salt Lake Larnaca A wetlands network of four lakes, Larnaca Salt Lake typically welcomes as many as 15,000 Flamingos to its shores as they migrate from colder climates. Other water fowl such as Ducks, waders and Seagulls also frequent the lake. The Flamingos rest here through Winter and leave in March. 4 6 5
