Giving back Their Future Today Their Future Today is a UK-based charity dedicated to transforming the lives of Sri Lanka’s forgotten children. Founded by Lynn Stanier MBE, the charity grew from her first visit to Sri Lanka shortly after the devastating tsunami, when she volunteered in a state-run orphanage near Galle. What began as a mission to improve living standards in one orphanage has grown into a nationwide effort, helping vulnerable families break free from poverty through education, family reunification, and sustainable community programmes. “We feel incredibly proud to have supported Their Future Today over the years and to have witnessed it flourish”, says our chairman and founder, Martin Bugeja, who recently visited the school and planted a banana tree. “Their work gives so many young people a real chance at a brighter, more hopeful future” he said. Today, 52 children attend the Mercury Holidays – Their Future Today International Preschool. Each child has a bank account opened by DFCC and People’s Bank, providing a first step toward financial independence – something their parents could never have dreamed of. “One of the most joyful sights is the banana tree planted by Martin Bugeja, which is now flourishing beautifully. It has become a reminder for the children and staff alike that when something is nurtured with care and commitment, it grows strong and fruitful,” said Ms Stanier. “Because of Mercury Holidays, children who might otherwise face the risk of institutional care are instead growing up in loving families, with education, safety, and hope for the future.” To learn more and show your support, please visit theirfuturetoday.com
